General Announcements Here we are!! It's been a long time coming and it's finally here. Plans are being made and things are being prepared for the switch to Phoenix to take place on Monday. What does this mean?It means that sometime around midnight Sunday night/Monday morning I'm going to disable student logins to the .com site and begin the transfer of data. Hopefully, the switch will take place without incident and sometime Monday afternoon Phoenix will be officially active. This also means that any work done after midnight Sunday night/Monday morning will be lost!!How can you prepare for the switchover?Students can prepare for the switchover by backing up as much information about their accounts that they can. This includes a list of completed classes (and grades for those classes if you can), the number of credits you currently have, your level (year)....basically anything you can write down. Also, please be aware that because of the way the .com site was handled, there are extra records that should not have been kept which makes the transfer a bit confusing. This means that if you've submitted a request for an essay, but haven't actually submitted that essay yet....chances are you'll have to re-request that essay. I'm sorry but this can't be helped since it's the easiest way to get rid of the extras that shouldn't have been kept.Instructors can prepare by checking their list of classes to make sure all their classes are listed as theirs. All the current classes have already been transferred over and should be in the Phoenix database, so you shouldn't have to worry about uploading them unless they're brand newWhat can I expect? As with all change, things probably won't go as smooth as we'd like them to. I'm sure there will be some bugs here and there to work out. Things like this should be considered growing pains and they will eventually pass. Please be patient. This is a massive transfer we're talking about. Grey School currently has 1200+ students and when you take into account that I'm moving everything for those students plus the 40+ faculty/staff, there's lots of places where something could go wrong or something might transfer the way it should have. I will, however, be aiming to keep issues like this to a minimum. Please bear with as we make this transfer/upgrade. In the end, I know this will only enhance the experience that we offer here at Grey School
